Auction Description

Ruby Hazel was born and raised in South Georgia and worked on the family farm where they raised tobacco and cotton. Her family lived in the rural south and they knew how to put everything to the best use with nothing wasted. She always told wonderful stories about times with her family and items they used in the old days including her "stealing" tastes from fresh pies and cakes in the pie safes and Hoosier cabinets. She had an affinity for older antiques and was a collector of a variety of items. Ruby enjoyed finding unique pieces and was known to search them out and find them in the most obscure and remote areas. She just knew "where the treasures were!"
She was an antique dealer and collector throughout her life. For several years, she had a store called Yesteryear Here, in Poulan, GA. Through the decades afterwards, she continued with her passion by searching out "j-u-n-q-u-e NOT j-u-n-k" by going to flea markets, yard sales, estate sales, etc. Ruby was known for her eclectic decorating and usage of her antiques and collectibles throughout her home. Many who visited her home for the first time were amazed at the feeling of being taken back in time with the great pieces she used and had on display. So, a lot of these items that are up for auction are pieces that she used every day and was familiar with in her life. She collected antiques and other items that brought back many fond memories of a time long ago during less hectic and fast-paced times.
